need a rep when . . .
1.
Internal affairs contacts you in person, by phone or via
memorandum asking you to come in to be interviewed as an
accused regarding an allegation.
2.
A staff officer or supervisor wants to talk about your
actions, inactions, or activities on or off the job and
you ask them if it could lead to discipline and they say
yes.
3.
Your just received a
LOI
Letter
of Intent
to impose discipline.
4.
You=re
being asked to talk to any agencys
criminal investigators regarding your involvement in a any
criminal investigation, i.e.; officer involved shooting, use
of force injuries, major accident, etc.
5.
One or more staff officers is offering you a choice to leave
a special unit in lieu of doing an investigation.
6.
Youre
the subject of an emergency suspension. |
You
should talk to a rep when . . .
1.
You are called in to be interviewed as a witness
and you want to know your rights and if you need a rep.
2.
You receive your first notice from the city that you are a
named defendant in any civil litigation.
3.
You were advised of a less than satisfactory performance
rating by your Sgt. Or Commander.
4.
You are on probation and you have been
made aware of performance issues that could affect your
employment status.
5.
You are off work or on light duty for a potentially long
period of time from an on or off duty injury, or
undetermined stress condition, and you want to make sure you
don=t
wake up with an ordered fitness for duty exam, retirement or
termination notice. |
